Ordering

Q. I don't have a MIDSCI account number. Can I still place an order on your web site?

A. Yes. You may place an order without an account number; this is called a "cash sale," even though you must pay by credit card. You may browse the catalog and build a shopping cart. However, before the Midwest ordering system accepts your order, you must specify shipping and payment information. Once this form is submitted, your order is released to a Midwest Customer Service Representative who will process your request on the same day. State and Federal regulations prohibit the sale of some items—chemicals, certain glassware, balances, syringes and needles—from being sold to individuals.

Q. Once I submit my order, how do I receive an acknowledgment for permanent record?

A. When you submit your order — or "checkout" — an order status screen appears. You can use your web browser's "Print" function to print the screen.

Q. Can I order any item through the MIDSCI Web Site?

A. Yes. However, Federal and State regulations prohibit some items, such as chemicals, balances, some glassware, needles, and syringes from being sold over the Internet. If you have questions or concerns regarding the purchase of prohibited items, our Midwest Customer Service Representatives can help — call 800-227-9997.

Shipping

Q. Are packing slips and MSDS sheets included with the shipment when delivered?

A. Ordering from the MIDSCI Web Site is the same as ordering over the phone or by fax. Necessary paperwork and MSDSs, if required, will only be included the first time a chemical is ordered.

Q. Are there additional shipping or handling charges assessed when placing orders through the MIDSCI Web Site?

A. No, all orders are subject to the terms and conditions of your agreement with MIDSCI. We do not assess additional charges for placing orders over the Internet. When you do place an order, you may choose your preferred delivery option and receive confirmation of estimated shipping charges.

Payment

Q. What payment methods are available through the MIDSCI Web Site?

A. Our system supports payment by credit card and purchase orders. Users may arrange for payment by MasterCard, Visa and American Express credit cards or submit a P.O. number for invoicing.

Billing Information

Q. Is the price displayed on my screen a contract or a list price?

A. List price only will appear on the screen—your contract price still applies. For all others, the price displayed is the current list price.

Q. Is the total price calculated on the screen the same as what will appear on my invoice?

A. The total price is for list price only, and does not take into account estimated tax, freight, and handling charges, as well as contract price (if available). For exact amounts, call your MIDSCI Customer Service Representative at 800-227-9997.

Returns

Q. How do I return a product?

A. Before returning any item, call 800-227-9997 to obtain a Return Authorization Number and be sure to write this number on all shipping labels and correspondence about this shipment. Do not write on cartons. Returns made without a Return Authorization Number will be returned collect to the sender.

Q. Is there a time limit on returns?

A. Returns must be made within 30 days of issuance of the Return Authorization Number. We require that you pre-pay shipping costs; CODs will not be accepted. Credit cannot be provided without a Return Authorization Number.

Q. Which products are returnable?

A. MIDSCI will provide full credit for the following:

  • products not supplied in accordance with your orders;
  • products that are defective at the time you receive them.

Returns not acceptable for credit include:

  • discontinued products;
  • products that have been personalized or customized;
  • items supplied to the customer as an accommodation, including without limitation, third-party purchases;
  • items not purchased from Midwest Scientfic;
  • refrigerated or temperature-controlled products;
  • products that are outdated, shelf-worn, or used and therefore unsuitable for return to stock and resale as new;
  • reagents, diagnostics, or chemicals that have been opened;
  • broken thermometers or any materials containing free mercury.
    (Note: MIDSCI cannot arrange for the treatment or disposal of mercury.)

Security

Q. Does the MIDSCI website use "cookies?"

A. Yes, portions of the catalog section of our site does use cookies, but only to ensure that each Web page you visit recognizes your entire visit, a process called "session tracking." Session tracking, for example, allows you to place products in your Shopping Cart while browsing for other products. Saving cookies to your computer is the most efficient way to track sessions. MIDSCI does not use cookies or the information obtained through cookies for any purpose unrelated to your activities on our website. In addition, the "session cookies" are temporary and last only as long as you are on our site or for a predefined period of time. Nothing is permanetly placed on your computer.

Q. Is placing an order through the website secure?

A. Yes. Your order is emailed to us and the only way someone could actually receive the information is to intercept it in transit acrosss the internet They would need to know exactly when you click send and where your email is going, which is virtually impossible to do. We store absolutely no information about you, your purchase, or credit info online.
